Technical Supervision Footwear
New Footwear Styles with first last provided and outsole design provided
-Prototypes development: follow the designers Tech-Packs, overview from paper pattern development to stitching and cementing, tuning of the style and solve possible production problems. Follow in SR that instruction are followed with no misinterpretation, no mistake in last to use… Make sure wrong paper patterns, lasts, cutting dies are no more in the SR, but eventually stored elsewhere, to avoid mistakes.
In case the proto is developed in a factory, after last proto is cnfm, bring a copy of everything and all info to SR for our record. Check proto is fitting properly, very comfortable and that there are no more points with potential problems of breaking/tearing/gluing…and is no more possible to reduce the weight and increase the slip on function and comfort. Once job is completed we have what we call GENERAL Sample, means Last/Outsole/Paper patterns/Materials to use/Fitting/Pricing.. are all confirmed and the shoe is ready for industrial production.
-First Samples and Salesmen Samples: after receiving the sample instruction sheet (material and colour combination) follow-up the SR/FACTORY during the whole process: material purchase (check what is purchased is matching the request, often the colour is different, the material is different, so need to refuse material or slightly change the colours of other details to make the shoe look nice again), paper pattern re-check, material combination supervision, check of accessories purchased, cutting and stitching supervision, cementing and lacing/finishing/labelling. Recheck randomly the fitting with the last and on foot. Follow up also the schedule of sample making in Factory.
-SMU. Some customers request material/colour variation to our seasonal offer. They send a sample instruction sheet to follow and they place an order straight away, that will be eventually cancelled after the submission of the confirmation sample. You need to make sure the materials selected are suitable for shoes use, before factory purchases the bulk material, and before sending the sample to customer. There is a sample spec sheet document that has to be signed for technical approval, before sending out the sample to customer.
-Follow improvement/change in production guidelines, making sure factories and SR have updated info. (example: we change cutting dies for one material for one style in factory A. Need to inform all QC and SR and also make sure they took action to avoid next order with Factory B or next sample in SR is made with previous obsolete cutting dies. Or we receive a complaint from several consumers about one lining base, we decide to stop using that material as lining base, but after some time someone still use it…)
-Improve styles for production, help the factory deal with quality emergencies and full sizes fitting Confirmation (with Dario/Karen/Leo and Garry) following that Brand procedure.
-New Material supplier evaluation: in case we have some problems with the SR for material research or materials development go to the material market to find some options and make the follow-up with new suppliers for the development.
-Follow-up Last improvements.
-Follow-up Outsole development (in the first 5 months with Dario/Karen and Emiliano).
-Check randomly that lasts ordered (bulk, for production, to send to factories) are exactly copying the last confirmed, before factory start using them. It happens supplier deliver not accurate lasts.
-For new styles first time in production in a factory, check the fitting of all sizes before shipping (double check to avoid to ship wrong shoes, it happened in the past that QC didn’t perform well his job). Ask to be contacted by Production Inspection Team in our warehouse when they do 100% inspection of a new style.
